Formation of a Joint Committee for Yamuna River

On Wednesday, Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced the establishment of a joint committee aimed at cleaning the Yamuna River, modeled after initiatives for the Ganga River. This committee will include senior officials from the Central Water Commission (CWC), the state government, and the Delhi government.

The committee's focus will not only be on the cleanliness of the Yamuna but will also address other related issues. According to an official statement, Saini participated in an inter-state coordination meeting on 'Yamuna Water Rejuvenation' chaired by Union Minister for Water Power, C.R. Patil, in New Delhi.

Following the meeting, Saini remarked that since the formation of the Delhi government under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, development plans have been rapidly formulated and are continuously progressing. He noted that as part of the ongoing campaign, 16,000 metric tons of waste have already been removed from the Yamuna.
